The author mentions the importance of broadening the definition of the words symptom, illness, healing, and health to encompass not only the physical dimension but also the emotional and energy components of human beings. He also suggests that it would be more than desirable to implement acupuncture as a therapeutic modality in hospital environments in order to offer a more optimal level of care.
